USEFUL QUESTIONS

Know what to ask.

A little clarity before you make a start.

Can you quote from the area alone?

Area is one useful input. Existing ground, access, excavation, drainage, materials and finishing details can all change the scope. A site assessment and specification are needed before a reliable written quotation.

What should I measure first?

Start with the broad outline, the connection to the house and any fixed features. The planner can calculate a rectangular area, but it does not replace an on-site survey.

Can I keep part of the existing surface?

Sometimes a project can focus on a smaller area. The condition of the existing surface, how it was built and the proposed connection need to be assessed first.

Do I need to choose a material before getting in touch?

No. Bring reference images and explain the look and maintenance level you prefer. Material samples and supplier information can help narrow the decision.

How do I check whether permission is needed?

Requirements depend on the property, location and proposed work. Check with the relevant local authority or an appropriately qualified adviser before relying on assumptions.

How are payments agreed?

The scope, price and payment schedule should be recorded in the written agreement. This site accepts online payment only against a specific agreed reference assigned to your account.

Does a submitted brief book a visit?

No. The brief records your request. Availability, the purpose of a visit and its date need to be confirmed separately.

Can I save design ideas?

Yes. Save references from the design library. They remain in this browser and can help you describe what you like in the project planner.
